Brake Fluid’s Job in Brake Repair
Your vehicle’s brakes serve a critical role in your car’s functioning. Brakes allow you to maintain the correct speed, they allow drivers to stop when they need to and most importantly, they help to keep drivers safe. A car’s brakes may stop working due to many issues. Sometimes the problem can stem from the brake fluid.
About Brake Fluid
Changing or adding brake fluid is not a typical task technicians do during routine maintenance. When you have low brake fluid it’s usually an indication that your vehicle needs some type of brake repair or possibly the brake pads need to be replaced. Vehicle owners are often not sure of the cause and since proper working brakes are essential to safe driving, it’s suggested that you seek the advice of a professional mechanic for brake repair if you are experiencing any issues similar to the ones listed below.

Mushy Brakes
You might experience that your brakes feel “mushy” or that you need to pump them to get them to work effectively. These are typically air bubbles that have been formed in the brake line. Bleeding the brake line can generally solve this issue. This task is a 2-man job and should really be done by a professional. If bleeding the brakes doesn’t fix the problem, then some type of brake repair is probably necessary.

A Drop in Brake Fluid Level
You may also notice a sudden drop in your brake fluid level. A sudden drop can indicate a few different things: Either the brakes have worn out and are in need of being replaced or there’s an issue with the braking system and the vehicle should get brake repair as soon as possible. On the other hand, if your brakes are still in great condition and no repairs are needed, the fluid may just simply be low.
When to Add Brake Fluid
You should only add brake fluid AFTER your brakes have been inspected to make sure they are not in need of some type of brake repair. Although, vehicle owners should always be aware of signs that indicate there may be a problem with the brake fluid or that their car may need brake repair, as brake fluid is critical to a car’s proper functioning.
